【Details】
In recent years, more young Japanese people feel affinity towards the Philippines as a tourist destination as well as business partner. However, the country still faces social issues such as poverty, peace and order, and so on. Consequently, children, particularly the ones from poor families, are the most affected resulting in some living in the streets or becoming victims of human trafficking.

On July 3rd, 2016, Japan-Philippines NGO Network will hold the Japan-Philippines NGO Forum entitled "The Reality of Children in the Philippines - Learning from former Filipino street children" in JICA Global Plaza.

This forum will provide an opportunity for the Japanese young people to learn about the social realities (including the issues of overseas Filipino workers in Japan) in the Philippines, focusing on poor children, make them recognize the need for cooperation in the international society, develop their interest and take action.

3 social leaders from the Philippines who are taking action and hoping to make changes in their society are invited as Guest Speakers for this event.

There will also be group discussions in which the participants will be divided into small groups, discuss themes such as "street children in urban areas", "Filipino children residing in Japan", and other related issues.

We would like to invite Filipinos, especially children and youth residing in Japan (Kanto area), to join us in this event to think about how we can contribute ourselves to building a closer and better relationship between Japan and the Philippines.
